“Textile Fossils” is an installation exploring the relationship between nature and the traces of human activity. The work grows out of the idea of an art of sensitivity and care—a practice in which care for matter and for the rhythms of nature replaces a consumerist approach to making. Inspired by natural cycles of exchange and renewal, the installation proposes a vision of coexistence in which art becomes a process of regeneration, and waste becomes part of a new ecosystem.

The installation, built from reworked fabrics and plastics, creates textile landscapes that resemble geological formations: bas-reliefs open to touch and interaction, in which successive layers of used material can be read like deposits of fossilised earth.

Textile Stones
“Textile Stones” is a collective rock formation made up of individual, hand-woven blocks of fabric—a kind of new geology in which layers of clothing waste replace layers of sediment. As in the natural process of sedimentation, each stone solidifies into a trace of time and consumption, forming a landscape of future fossils.
